Jacob Shelby Craig

Jacob Shelby Craig, 80, of Afton, Virginia, passed away early on Thursday morning, December 3, 2009, at his home.

He was born on March 23, 1929, a son of the late Bernard M. Craig and Ruth Fox Craig. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel L. Craig; a son, Wayne S. Craig; a daughter, Betty C. Baber; three sisters and four brothers.

He is survived by one sister, Hattie R. Craig of Afton; a son, Jacob H. Craig and his wife, Teresa, of Waynesboro; two daughters, Mary C. Thacker of Charlottesville and Ruth C. Kirby and her husband, Tony Kirby, of Batesville; eight grandchildren; and two special friends, Buster and Brenda Gibson.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Batesville with the Reverend Anthony Andes officiating. There is no formal visitation.

The family expresses special thanks to the Hospice of the Piedmont.

The family suggests any desired contributions be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Way, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

i am so sorry to read about Jake. I worked on





iI am so sorry to read abou Jake's passing.. I WORK WITH jAKE ON THD crile turkey farm when I was 14.mY BROTHER jOE AND i were Viet Nam during the same time with Wayne. Kennetrh Kirkley and I spent almost a year together in N. Africa. Jake was a lot of fun to be around, I know you will miss him so much. God bless all of you.
