James Helbert Frazier

James Helbert Frazier, 89, of Charlottesville, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.

He was born December 18, 1919, in Greene County, a son of the late Bluford and Mandy Frazier. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Lucille Smith Frazier, to whom he was lovingly devoted.

James is survived by two children, one son, David S. Frazier and his wife, Lisa, of Charlottesville; one daughter, Sharon F. Conley and her husband, Melvin, of Stanardsville; one brother, John Frazier of Palmyra; four sisters, Vernia Shiifflett of Charlottesville, Nettie Virginia Thompson of Crozet, Dolly McCauley and her husband, George, of Dyke, and Audrey Davis of Scottsville; one grandson, Mitchell James Conley of Stanardsville; and two granddaughters, Kayla Ann Frazier and Rylan Leigh Frazier of Charlottesville.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Thompson; one brother, Delbert Frazier; and a good friend, Frank Shifflett.

He retired from Foreign Science Technology Center and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Northside Baptist Church in Charlottesville. The Reverend Douglas Frazier, nephew, will officiate.

Sharon and David, we want to say that we are oh so sorry to hear about your dad. He was a lovely, gentle man. I enjoyed growing up with you both on the same street.
