June Goldstein passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010.

She was born on June 8, 1927, in New York City, New York, to Sarah and Leonard Kirsch. She moved to Charlottesville in 2005 and has subsequently moved through many levels of care in our area nursing care industry. Through it all, she maintained a tremendous level of dignity, kindness and was well loved by the care givers in each establishment.

After living in New York, Maryland, and Connecticut, she retired to Florida with her husband of 52 years, the late Milton Goldstein. When she arrived in Charlottesville, she had already been battling Parkinson's Disease for twelve years. She was immediately greeted with new nicknames of affection: June Bug, Juney, Miss June, and was treated with Southern hospitality. Her greatest accomplishment in her last years was to befriend a new best friend and care giver, Debbie Graves. They went everywhere together, with or without medical approval, and they were a variation on the story of Thelma and Louise and they will miss each other greatly.

June' survivors include her brother and his wife, Dr. Sandford and Gloria Kirsch of Chappaqua, New York; her sons and daughters-in-law, Doctors Mark and Michele Goldstein-Masliah of New York, New York, Larry Goldstein and Daria Okugawa of Charlottesville, Virhinia, and Jeff Goldstein and Carrie Inoshita of Boulder, Colorado. She is survived by ten grandchildren and stepchildren, two great-grandchildren and an extended family of nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, June was a people person, offering an empathetic ear and good counsel to all. She was a tremendous home maker with impeccable taste and a Life Master bridge player. Her ultimate joy was providing for her children and her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those who felt her generosity and playfulness. Her family is especially appreciative of Dr. Snustad, Dr. Neal, and the many kind women who did all the things to give her a good transition out of this life.

In her memory, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite non-profit organization that tends to children, the elderly, animals or the arts.
