Magnolia Sims Deane

Magnolia Sims Deane, 98, of Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Evergreene Nursing Home in Stanardsville, Virginia.

Magnolia was born July 13, 1911, in Stanardsville, the daughter of the late Tyree J. Sims and Emma Breeden Sims.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey M. Deane; two sisters, Violette S. Rhodes and Pansy S. Thurman; four brothers, Jesse, John, Delma and Melvin Sims.

Magnolia is survived by one daughter, Janette D. Mitchell and her husband, Garland, of Fairfax, Virginia; two granddaughters, Karen M. Gochenour and her husband, Mark, of Manassas, Virginia, and Anita M. Norris and her husband, Gary, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; three great-granddaughters, Lauren Kendall Saylor and her husband, David, Melanie E. Pate and Sarah J. Pate.

She is also survived by two sisters-in-law and a number of nieces and nephews.

Magnolia has been a member of the Ruckersville Baptist Church since 1931. She was a faithful attendee until her later years. She loved her family and many friends.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009, at the Ruckersville Baptist Church with the Reverend Kyle Clements officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. Following the committal service, a reception will be held at Ruckersville Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ruckersville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 104, Ruckersville, Virginia 22968.
