Marian Duncan Falls

Marian Duncan Falls, 75, of Beech Grove, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, surrounded by her family, at the Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born August 1, 1934, the youngest daughter of the late John Pearson and Ada Hughes Duncan.

Her love for animals prompted her to work as Chief Nurse for many years at Woodworth Animal Hospital in Waynesboro. She was especially fond of her beloved pet and companion, "Q.T.". She also worked at Cooper Beech Florist, in Orvis and later retired from Wintergreen Resort due to an illness. Marian attended and was a member of Beech Grove Christian Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 58 years, C. Ray Falls; one daughter, Joyce Rae F. Turner and her husband, Rodger; one sister, Agnes D. Thompson; one devoted grandson, Matthew L. Turner and his wife, Vanessa; one beloved nephew, J. L. Thompson and his wife, Cindy; a very special and cherished cousin, Judy H. Tharpe; numerous cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to the doctors at Augusta Medical Center, also to special friends, Cheryl Miller, Edna Giles, Marie Gale, Alecia G., Peyton and Alexis Brooks and their dog Bandit.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009, at Beech Grove Christian Church by Pastors Mike Auen, Dave and Barbara Cunningham, with burial to follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be J.L. Thompson, Darrell Stevens, Romie Falls, Danny Fields, Richard Campbell, Greg Armentrout, Frank Armentrout and Ashley Miller.

The family will receive friends 7 until 8 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Beech Grove Christian Church Fund, c/o Treasurer Donna Falls, the American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501, or to the charity of your choice.
