Myra Price Obituary

Published by Daily Progress on Nov. 15, 2010.
Myra Cox Price

Myra Cox Price, formerly of Madison, died on Friday, November 12, 2010, in Richmond.

She was predeceased by her parents, James Cox and Maxie Cox Springer; and her sisters, June Cox Woolford and Betty Cox Beale.

She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, James "Kiggy" Crigler Price; her sons and their wives, the Reverend Chris and Terry Price of Richmond, and Doctor Keith and Cindy Price of Warren, Pennsylvania; and her five grandchildren, Katie, Laura, Megan, Tim, and Julie Price.

Born in Dryden on February 17, 1922, she grew up in mountainous Lee County, and then graduated from Milligan College in Tennessee. Upon her marriage in May, 1951, Myra devoted herself to the Madison community which became her home and love. Through Hebron Church she became an active Lutheran, and served on numerous committees and ministries. Madison's Women's Club, Garden Club, MESA, and a regional Mental Health board all benefitted from her involvement and leadership. Several other causes were also important to her, and included Roanoke College, the Boys' and Girls' Club of Madison, and Child Fund International. Through such service and the couple's active social life, Myra was blessed with many friends, who brightened her spirits during her last years of ill health. In November of 2008, Myra and her husband moved into Spring Arbor of Richmond.

Funeral services will be held at Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison, 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010, and will be followed by a reception with family and friends in the Parish House at Hebron Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hebron Lutheran Church or any of the above organizations.

Chris, Keith & Families,
I just heard about your Mother today and I am so very sorry. She was a true lady in every sense of the word. I always enjoyed talking with her whenever I saw her. She was one of the kindest dearest people I ever knew and I know how much she will be missed. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. Much Love, Alma Lu and Family
