Philmore Vernon Gooch Jr.

Philmore Vernon Gooch Jr., 55, of Louisa, Virginia, departed this life on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at his residence.

He was born on November 11, 1954, the son of the late Philmore Vernon Gooch Sr. and Jane Louise Ellis Gooch.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki H. Gooch; one son, Matthew Jason Holland; one grandson, Isaiah Matthew Holland; one brother, Harold Matthew Gooch and his wife, Roxie; mother-in-law, Parthenia Holland; one sister-in-law, Wendy Morris; five brothers-in-law, the Reverend Ray McKenzie and his wife, Faith, Alan McKenzie and his wife, Barbara, Anthony Holland and his wife, Sarah, Darryl Holland and George Holland Jr. He is also survived by two great-aunts, Julia Ellis of Orange, Virginia, and Mary Cage of Washington, D.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 102 Meadows Avenue, Louisa, VA 23093, with Ray McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 1546 Vawter Corner Road, Louisa.

Thomasson Watson Funeral Service Inc. of Louisa is handling the arrangements.
