Robert Morris Obituary
Robert "Bobby" Edgar Morris Jr., 64, of Fork Union, died on Friday, August 27, 2010, at McGuire Veteran's Hospital in Richmond, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on October 1, 1945, in Zions Crossroads, a son of Helen (Davis) Morris Pleasants the late Robert Edgar Morris Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara J. Thomas.
Bobby was a wonderful person who was full of life. He was a dedicated husband and father and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He served in the United States Army from 1963 until 1966 in Wurzburg, Germany, and later chose a career as a tractor trailer driver for Jake Alexander and Macsteel, which he did for over 30 years. His hobbies included playing golf, watching NASCAR and working on cars. Bobby will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Pamela L. Morris of Fork Union; two daughters, Patricia L. Morris of Fork Union and Nicole E. Morris of Palmyra; two sons, Robert E. Morris III of Fork Union, and Jeff Harris and his wife, Pam, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Jayden Anderson, Scarlett Harris, and Marcos and Manuel Perez; three sisters, Shirley M. Bryant and her husband, Forrest, of Troy, Rebecca M. Harris and her husband, Ervin, of Troy, and Lisa M. Sprouse and her husband, Steve, of Kents Store; a brother, Ronnie Lee Morris, of Troy; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010, at Zion United Methodist Church at 1674 Zion Road in Troy by the Reverend Mike Plasters. Burial will follow at Bybee Road Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Zion United Methodist Church.
Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville is handling the arrangements.
