Robert Rea Henry Sr., 84, of Gordonsville, died on Monday, May 3, 2010, at his residence.

He was born on September 17, 1925, in Charlottesville, a son of the late Nathanial Henry and Susie Frances Anderson Henry and was married to the late Mary Elizabeth Henry.

He was a member of the Mount View Baptist Church in Charlottesville.

Mr. Henry is survived by one daughter, Frances Hoke Hartman and her husband, Len, of Keswick; three sons, Roger Wayne Henry and his wife, Peggy, of Bumpass, Robert R. "Bob" Henry and his wife, Sandy, of Charlottesville, Jimmy Henry and his wife, Tina, of Gordonsville; one brother, T.E. Henry of Charlottesville; eight grandchildren, Gloria Payne, Angela Loeser, Logan Henry, Luke Henry, Tina Henry, Lauren Sykes, Ricky Meninger and Shawn Meninger; six great-grandchildren, Amber, Jody and Sharra Payne, Allexa and Tori Loeser and Carly Sykes; and a very special friend, Dave Stancil.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, James Henry; and three sisters, Thelma Drumheller, Margaret Taylor and Alice Sclater.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Gordonsville, with interment at Monticello Memory Gardens Cemetery in Charlottesville. The Reverend Buster Payne will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the funeral home.
