To the Canosa Family and Friends, I was honored to have known Bob as we were both members of the Suffolk County Police Department and assigned to the Highway Patrol Bureau. Bob was aggressive, vigilant and equitable in his performance with the general public. He maintained a high work ethic, honest and forthright as a member of the Highway Patrol, he wore the Highway Patrol uniform, the uniform did not wear him. His military bearing, always striving to maintain that edge, truly made him a "cops cop." I will fondly remember the golf, the jokes and banter, his humor when the arrests were difficult, the hours long, fatigue had set in, Bob always would rally the troops with a comment or joke to break the tension. I salute you Bob Canosa, it was a considerable joy to have known you, worked and to tee it up with you my friend, may your next tour of duty be the best, you have earned it while on this earth. God Bless you Robert, you will be missed.

To the Canosa family,
My deepest condolences to all. I worked with Bob for 8 years in the Suffolk Highway Patrol. We were on the SAFE-T Team and the Motor Cycle Unit together.
A better man, friend and partner, I couldn't have imagined. He was always there for me and any other cop that might have needed him. I never worried about backup when working with Bob. He was one smart, tough and fearless cop... He was most definitely a "Cops Cop", and always true to "The Corp". I have countless memories of the great times, both on the job and off. He was a great friend.. and will be missed every day of the rest of my life. I will never forget him!!

Joe and Caitlain, You can well be proud of your father. He was a great man. Remember the good times and keep him always in your heart.

It was truly sad to hear of Bob's passing. I worked with him during several Presidential motorcade movements, and again when he came to work for me in the Special Operations Section of the Suffolk County NY P.D.
He was a great cop, someone you could always depend on, a true professional.
Rest in peace Bobby.

To the Canosa family,
I had the pleasure of working with Bob for 8 years while we where assigned to the Highway Patrol Bureau of the Suffolk County Police Dept. We worked together on the Long Island Expressway and later we were assigned to the SAFE-T Unit, whose mission was arresting intoxicated drivers. You never had to worry who had your back when Bob was on the scene. He was brave, smart, faithful, funny and fearless. He loved being a cop also most as much as he loved being a husband and a Dad and an ex-Marine. One of his favorite nicknames for people he liked was to call them, "Maggot", a saying from his U.S.Marine Corp days. We spent many days together playing the local golf courses on Long Island and we also had our yearly golf vacations to Myrtle Beach with a group of Highway guys. When Bob first started playing he didn't want to buy a new set of clubs so I let him borrow my old set of Executive irons to learn with. I guess he was still learning cause I never did get them back. I'm glad I was present to see Caitlain and Joey at the funeral, I wish I had been able to talk to them afterwards to tell them how sorry I was and that their Dad will always be remembered by me as friend. I know I will always miss him. I'm going to toast Bob right after I finish this with his favorite adult beverage,a vodka and coke. My God Bless and keep him and his family.

Bob,
I am still in a state of shock.I remember so well when you came to work
for the Culpeper Town PD - we called
you and Danny, Starsky and Hutch!!
You were such a fine young man who
touched many lives. Being with the
court system at that time we got to know you well and were saddened when
you left for New York. Rest in Peace
Little Buddy.

At times like this, words seem so shallow. I didn't know Bob real well, but it's obvious the kind of man that he was. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bob's family, friends, and co-workers. Those are some big shoes for someone to try to fill. May God bless him and take him into heaven, and give comfort to those in his life.

Bob....Rest in peace....Friends and family during the late 1970's as a child hanging out at Cupleper Town Police I remember Bob as a police officer there and that smile that always was on his face. I loved doing ride alongs with him and then partner Danny Call. There unit numbers were 15 and 16 and I often wanted to run the roads with them.
I cried the day he left Culpeper Town Police as if he were a member of my immediate family. To your family ....I truly feel the loss and understand the pain. I will always miss you friend and you will always remain in my heart and on my mind.

I worked with Bob for 8 years while he and I were assigned to Highway Patrol in SCPD on Long Island. He was well respected by his peers and a nice guy to work with on the force. I can't say I was his good friend but I am deeply saddened by his passing.
