Ruth B. Elleyby

Ruth B. Elleyby, 73, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010.

She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on February 9 1937, the daughter of the late Irene and Robert Lee Jackson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Anna Hunter of Lynchburg, Virginia; and her brother, Andrew Jackson of Orange, Virginia.

Ruth was an extremely loving and devoted wife, mother, friend and confidant. Known to most as "Mama" she was mighty in words and deeds. She was a pillar of strength for the family and was instrumental in raising three generations of children; Ruth always took great pride in that fact.

At frequent family gatherings, her favorite quote was: "I must be a mighty woman, because all of this came through me!"

Mama Ruth you have touched our lives profoundly, and you will truly be missed!

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, James A. Elleyby of Lynchburg, Virginia; devoted loving daughters, Teresa Jackson, of Richmond, Virginia, Thelma Robinson and her husband, Daniel, of Charlottesville, Virginia, Ruth Valentine of Lynchburg, Virginia, Shirley Elleyby and her fiance, Freddie Byrd, of Lynchburg, Virginia, Maryann Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia, Hope Elleyby of San Diego, California, Jamie Elleyby of Lynchburg, Virginia, Cynthia Jones of Lynchburg, Virginia, Stephanie Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia, Carl Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia, Shanya Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia, China Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia, Shaquil Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Chelsea Williams of Lynchburg, Virginia.
