Samela Held Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Jul. 6 to Jul. 7, 2010.
Samela Sue Casalenouvo Held

Sammy left this world suddenly on Thursday, July 1, 2010.

She was born on a sunny day in Rome, New York, November 23, 1960, the daughter of Pasquale and Mary Casalenouvo.

Sammy brightened every room she entered. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. Sammy did accounting work in Rome, New York, Plattsburgh, New York, and Charlottesville, Virginia. Her biggest and most important job, however, was being a mother to Max and a wife to Fred. She had many friends and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her son, Max; her husband, Fred; brother, Larry; and mother, Mary; as well as many cousins and extended family, including Buddy, Mary Anne, Patty, Amelia, Susan, Lauri, Sharron, Tina and many others.

The family requests that all who knew Sam say a prayer wishing her a smooth journey, peace and happiness free from pain.

I knew Sam a short time, although it was quite obvious from the very beginning that the love she had for her family and the love her family had for her was very strong! Max was the apple of her eye. She will be missed by many- My thoughts and prayers are with you and Max.

This is a belated message, because I just learned of Sammy's death. I was saddened by the news, but I know that her warm smile is still directed at all of her loved ones. I only knew her professionally, but in every encounter with her, she always spoke proudly and lovingly of her son Max and how happily devoted she and Fred were to him. Prayers and blessings to her family.

Dear Fred & Max,

Sam was a truly wonderful wife, mother and friend! Words cannot express my sadness. I know she is in Heaven looking down on you. Her gentle, loving soul has left a tremendous impact in this world. I was so blessed with her friendship and will always hold dear my memories of her sparkling eyes and warm smile. Her strong compassion for others showed in all of her ways and she is truly missed.

I went to school with Sam and we were friends. She was always there with a smile and a very good nature which made you wish that you had the spirit she had that made you want to be closer to her. She will be missed. Bob Pettinelli, Burlington Vermont
