I remember growing up with Sammy, Terry and their sisters when my Aunt Oralea use to babysit them. My siblings and I would be visiting with Aunt Oralea and Uncle Ike during the summer months and we always enjoyed the fun we had with the family. We thank God and his mighty angels for Sammy and his beautiful smile...
May he rest in peace...

Dear Mrs. Phillips,
When I started college seven years, Mr. Sam was one of the first people I met. He was always making sure that we were following the rule, and I will miss that about him. It is ironic that the last time I was saw Mr. Sam was about two months ago at Fifth Baptist Church at the celebration of life ceremony for Rev. Eugene Fleming, Sr. I am just shocked to hear of his passing, and I wish I could have attended the services.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

In Your Pocket
You may have memories in your pocket.
That may rattle among the change.
Your memories are treasures that you carry wherever you go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They will give you comfort when you think you are alone.
Yes, You have memories in your pocket, like so much other stuff you keep there.
But of all the treasures you have, it’s the memories of him that are the most precious.

Brenda,
Words cannot begin to convey my deepest sympathies. Please know that I am here for you during these difficult times.
God said in His promises that "weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning". Hold on to that promise and to the beautiful memories you have of your "season" with Sam. Memories can never be taken from you. In the days ahead, whenever you feel sad, reach into your heart and grasp hold of a memory to warm your spirit.
Sam's warm and gentle smile will be dearly missed by all. God's plans are not always our plans, but we will understand it better by and by!
Love you much,
