Stephanie K. Lawson, 53, of Kents Store, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on September 23, 1957, in Charlottesville, the daughter of the late Hubert P. Lawson and Katherine W. Sampson who resides in Charlottesville. Also preceding Stephanie in death was her step-father, Roy Sampson; and grandmother, Thelma Wood.

She will be missed by many but will remain in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her daughter, Christy Green and her husband, Thad Green; her grandson, Ryan Green; her sister, Sharon Fields; and her brothers, Barry Lawson, David Lawson, and Greg Lawson; and countless other family and friends.

A special thank you to her close friend, Florence Morris, who stood by her side; the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont, the staff at Martha Jefferson Hospital Infirmary and all the wonderful physician's for their support. The family would also like to thank the multitude of friends and family who cared for her and loved her unconditionally.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday December 10, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Park Street, Charlottesville. Interment will be private.

I am sorry this is late but I did not find out until today of Stephanie's passing. I last saw her working at Lowe's and we were so happy to see each other again. We were neighbors at Lake Monticello and I couldn't have asked for a better one. She was so sweet and how she loved her little dogs! She and I talked many times about God. I know she is in a better place now and she is happy with our Lord. I miss you, Stephanie, and I still have the little gifts you brought me. May God comfort your family.

Christy and Katherine: I was so sorry to hear about Stephanie. She and I had some great times together when we were younger. She was the maid of honor at my wedding. I can see her smile now. We had not seen each other much lately but I will never forget her. I remember her learning to drive boy was that something, the places we would go, the friendship that we shared. I know she loved her family very much and ask God to give you all comfort during this time of sorrow but let the memories bring you joy and take away some of the sadness.
