Sylvia Kingrea Obituary

Published by Daily Progress on Sep. 29, 2010.

Sylvia Ann Kingrea

On Tuesday, September 28, 2010, the Lord called home our "pillow angel" with the early morning light.

Sylvia Ann Kingrea of Ruckersville was born on June 28, 1987, and has filled our lives with joy for 23 years. Now, a hole has been left in our hearts.

She is survived by her devoted parents, David and Lisa Kingrea; her loving brothers, Curtis and Ryan Kingrea; and her caring sister, Holly Irvin and her husband, Andrew, and their children, Alyssa and Owen Irvin, all of Ruckersville.

Also left to cherish her memory are her maternal grandparents, Clyde and Marie Shifflett of Charlottesville; her uncle, Granville Shifflett and his wife, Renee, of Ruckersville and their sons, and families; along with a host of other family and friends.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Audrey "Tobar" and Thelma Kingrea of Charlottesville.

Sylvia has bravely conquered many earthly struggles with grace, including graduating from William Monroe High School in 2005, participating in prom and other events and overcoming many surgeries and limitations.

She was a member of Evergreen Church of the Brethren in Dyke where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010, with the Reverend C.C. Kurtz officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville.

Sylvia's family would like to thank the multitude of physicians, nurses and medical staff who have taken such marvelous care of her throughout the years.

Our loss is now Heaven's gain!

Ryan Funeral Home of Ruckersville is handling the arrangements.

To Those Whom I Love And Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that I have had so many years

I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I travelled on alone

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It is only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories in your heart

I will not be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you soft and clear Then, when you must come this way alone
I will greet you with a smile and welcome you home.

I hope this poem brings you comfort.

May God continue to keep you in his care. I was sadden to hear of the homegoing of Sylvia. I was an assistant in Sylvia's classroom for her middle school career. I remember her smile, beartiful hair and georgous nail. Remember, God makes no mistakes and if we live according to his word, we too will be where she is.
Prayerfully summited,

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
