Virginia Blanche Groves Campbell

Virginia Blanche Groves Campbell passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010, in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Blanche was born on August 29, 1912, in Canvas, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Scott and Etta Groves. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene L. Campbell; her daughter, Peggy Walker Sydnor; and her sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Charles Hicks.

She attended Marshall College in Huntington, Wes Virginia. She was an active member of Allendale Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida, and upon moving to Charlottesville in 1993, she attended St. Paul's Memorial Church. She was an avid golfer, gardener, bridge player and sports fan.

Blanche is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Walker Pettygrove and her husband, Marshall ; her son-in-law, Dr.T. Austin Sydnor Jr.; her grandchildren, Thomas E. Sydnor and his wife, Hunter, of Denver, Colorado, Margaret Sydnor Jenkins and her husband, Bryant, of Wilson, North Carolina, Anne Austin Sydnor of Charlotte, North Carolina, A. Scott Pietsch and his wife, Erin, of Boise, Idaho, R. Miles Pietsch and his wife, Heidi, of Hailey, Idaho; six great-grandchildren, Henry, Maggie, Bryant, Austin, Emma and Lucy; two beloved nephews, Mr. and Stephen Hicks of Louisville, Kentucky and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hicks of Naples, Florida; and three step-children, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell, Mrs. William Campbell, all of Summersville, West Virginia, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hoffman of Mooresville, North Carolina.

A private family service will be held at St. Paul's Memorial Church.
