Hopatcong - Brian Petronaci, 39, of Hopatcong, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2018.

Born in Paterson, he was the beloved son of Glen and Pamel Petronaci. Brian grew up in the Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township, and graduated from Jefferson Township High School, where he played football. He moved to Hopatcong 17 years ago to be closer to Lake Hopatcong, where he loved to spend time boating and enjoying activities year-round. "Petro", as he was affectionately nicknamed by his friends, had an infectious laugh and a kind heart that drew people to him. His "Brian" humor was enjoyed by all and his love of life was evident in all he did. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephew, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Brian is survived by his parents, Glen and Pamela Petronaci; his sister, Sharon Gagliardi and her husband Mario; his nephew and godson, Mario Gagliardi, Jr.; his niece, Gianna Gagliardi; his niece and goddaughter, Angelina Gagliardi; his uncle, Paul Petronaci and his fiancé Dawn Capraun; his devoted girlfriend, Amanda Lowe; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 pm Thursday, January 11 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral service will be held 10 am Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory to the Jefferson Fire Co. #2 or the Jefferson Rescue Squad would be greatly appreciated by his family.

Pam and Family
Phillip and I are so deeply sorry for this tremendous loss in your lives. Brian was a wonderful person with a contagious smile. He came from one of the best set of parents we have ever known. Phillip and I can not imagine the size of the void that is felt by all of you. We were lucky to have known him and although not tangible, remember to keep close to your heart all the wonderful memories each of you have. Our prayers are with you Pam and your entire family.
