James Lee Parmley

August 13, 1957/September 25, 2010. On September 25, 2010, James ended his long battle with a rare illness. He fought like a true warrior and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. James Lee Parmley was born August 13, 1957, to Frances and Billy Charles Parmley in Dallas, Texas. The family moved early in his childhood to Nacogdoches, Texas. He spent his youth and early adult years in Nacogdoches. He was educated in the Nacogdoches school system and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. His rural upbringing brought him a standard of hard work and high moral ethics. James moved to the Dallas area where he met his wife, Holly. Together they worked hard and raised their two sons, Joshua and Jermey. James loved and adored his family. James was a funeral director and embalmer. He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. He was the class president. James was employed by many of the funeral homes across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He later found his true calling as a medical massage therapist. James understood what pain was, having numerous ailments. He also believed that there was a better way than the traditional standards. He became a pioneer and forged a path for better care for his patients. James became friends with many of his patients because of his caring and healing touch. James believed in the power of human touch. As a young man, James loved to sing. He loved singing the old gospel songs. He was member of the Singing Christians. James briefly had a radio show called "Southern Gospel Now" on KBEC. James relived the old songs for a few hours every Sunday night. He and Cecil Pollack put together several gospel conventions. They were fortunate to have these picked up by major broadcasting networks. James was a strong supporter of law enforcement. He was an honorary member of the Blue Knights, Chapter 21, Rio Grande Conference. He was actively involved in the yearly chili cook-off and believed charity of caring for abused children. James was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Billy Charles Parmley; grandparents, T. M and Bernice Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. Bullock. James was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Holly; sons, Joshua and Jermey; daughter-in-law, Stephanie; grandchildren, Cheyenne and Chloe; brother, Tommy; stepfather, Warren Gray; sister-in-law, Merri; and a host of family, extended family and friends. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Covenant Life Church of Waxahachie. Honorary pallbearers will be the Band of Brothers of Covenant Life Church. James was full of energy and never met a stranger. He loved life and enjoyed every minute of it. We will all miss his smiles, laughter and healing touch.
