Joseph Lastrapes

OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church of Opelousas for Mr. Joseph Lastrapes, 84, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 29, 2011 in St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas. Interment will be in St. Landry Catholic Cemetery in Opelousas.

Mr. Lastrapes was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He was a member of I.F.B.S. (Inseparable Friends & Benevolent Society), St. Landry Parish Drainage Board and in the Masonry Organization. Mr. Lastrapes is survived by: his wife, Elouise Lastrapes of Opelousas; his step mother, Grace Lastrapes of Grand Coteau; two sons, Cornell (Anna) Lastrapes and Marlo (Andrea) Lastrapes, both of Opelousas; two daughters, Karen (Harold) Mouton of Lafayette and Collette (Tony) Duffy of Opelousas; four brothers, Henley Lastrapes, James Everett (Mary Nell) Lastrapes, and Jude (Velma) Lastrapes, all of Opelousas and Don Lastrapes of Grand Coteau; four sisters, Augustine (Bob) Simon of California, Euretta (George) Lee of Houston, TX ; Sigrid Donatto of Church Point and Paula Williams of Baton Rouge; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Henley and Wilda Lastrapes; one daughter, Collette Ann Lastrapes; one brother, Thomas Ira Lastrapes; and one sister, Izola Chenier.

Visitation will be observed from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2011 in Ford and Joseph Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m.
