Barbara Lawrence

1948 - 2016

LAWRENCE, Barbara Of Irving, Texas passed away on December 23, 2016. She left peacefully, aware that her family and friends were with her and would miss her forever. Barb was born on August 9, 1948 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Alice Lucille and William G. Bushell. She is survived by a daughter, Melissa Lawrence Power; grandsons, Austin Lawrence and Zachary Lawrence and wife, Susie and great- granddaughter, Kanade Lawrence; Sisters, Cindy Austin, Sandra Bushell and Terri Holmes and husband Mack Holmes; and many extended family members and wonderful friends who were "family" to each other. Barb was a professional in the Insurance industry and she enjoyed developing relationships and learning new skills. She retired from Liberty Mutual, a company she greatly admired. Laughter, fun, food and social interaction were Barb's favorite ways to unwind. She always looked forward to Book Club, Bunco, card games, movies, theatre and traveling with friends. She was great fun and loved a good story or joke. Barb expressed her Christian faith through her love and generosity to her family and friends. She practiced sacrificial living by sharing her resources,time and energy to help and encourage all who needed her. In that spirit, she has donated her body to the Southwestern Medical Center Willed Body Program for Research. A small "Celebration of Life" event will be scheduled in the Spring. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to express our love and gratitude to Dylana, Lucy, Amanda, Jean and Duke for the kindness, love, friendship, and help you gave Barb during her long illness.
