Raymond Fields Obituary

FIELDS, JR., RAYMOND , Born on January 19, 1931 in Sweetwater, Texas, to R.F. and Margaret Strickland Fields. He passed away at the Lewisville Estates, Lewisville, Texas on April 2, 2006. In early childhood moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where he completed his education. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at Midwestern University, Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a proud member of the first Midwestern Band. After serving our country during the Korean conflict, he began a career in banking and with the National Guard at Wichita Falls. Texas. In the early sixties he moved to Nashville, Arkansas, continuing in banking and beginning ranching. Feeling the desire to help young people through education, he began teaching Mathematics and Government at Spruce High School in Dallas, Texas, during the early seventies. After earning a Master of Liberal Arts in Education from Soutem Methodist University, he developed his career from teaching to educational administration, serving the students and teachers of the Dallas Independent School District for many years. He was a charter member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Mesquite, Texas, and was dedicated to his church and church family. He was a servant of God, a devoted and caring husband, and a loving and inspiring father. He will be deeply missed by all. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Edna Pearl Fields (nee Chapel); his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Tuttass; her husband, Thomas; several relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.F. and Margaret Strickland Fields, and his brother, Tommie Eugene Fields. A memorial service will be held on April 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 3117 Motley, Mesquite, Texas 75150. Honorary Pal1bearers are members of the Coffee Cup Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Raymond Fields, Jr. Memorial Fund, benefiting St. Marks United Methodist Church, at the above address.
