Ruth Stapler Obituary

STAPLER, RUTH BOYD. An evening graveside memorial service for Ruth Boyd Stapler, 83, of Denton will be held Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 7 pm at Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton. Long-time family friend Joe Erwin of Hurst will officiate. She was born December 9, 1920 in Denton to Dixie and Nellie Alta Knight Boyd. She attended Denton public schools. She earned a B.A. in elementary education at North Texas State Teachers College (now the University of North Texas) graduating August 1940. She worked as an elementary education teacher in Port Arthur and Fort Worth beginning in 1940. Since 1950, she enjoyed life on her farm near Denton. She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. She died June 30, 2004 at Denton Regional Medical Center. She is survived by son Kirk Stapler of Dallas and his wife Susan; daughter Margaret Henderson of Austin and her husband Tom; daughter Kathleen Adler of Plano and her husband Harold; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Extended family include Barbara Farris Erwin of Hurst and Ben C. Franklin of Lewisville. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dickson K. Boyd, MD, sisters Dixie Boyd, Bernice Boyd Mitchell, and Mildred Hawk, and nephew David K. Boyd, all of Denton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak, Denton 76201. Deberry Funeral Directors Denton TX 940-383-4200
