Robert Choate Obituary

CHOATE, ROBERT HARRIS, Of Lakeway, Texas, was born in Caddo, Oklahoma May 27, 1935. He died of cancer on Sunday, September 4, 2005 surrounded by his family. He grew up in Dallas and graduated from Adamson High School and the University of North Texas, where he met Cynthia Boyd. They soon married and for 48 years enjoyed a devotion of love that endures today. His professional career began as a music teacher in Liberty, Texas and was cut short by a call to duty in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged in 1960, Robert went on to become Claims Vice President of Reserve Life Insurance in Dallas where he worked for 34 years. Later, he served as President of Fountainhead Admin Inc. in Austin. A love for music never waned though, as he directed choir and served as senior warden for our Lady of Grace/St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Over the course of 30 years, Robert and Cynthia sang together in Episcopal Choirs and were also called upon to sing at special services in other congregations. Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dow Choate. Survivors are his wife, Cynthia Choate; father, John Robert Choate; brother, Ronald F. Choate and wife, Libby and children; daughters, Lynn Maddox and husband, Greg, Stacey Almestica and husband, Angel; grandchildren, Jonathan, Eva - whose love for Robert brought great joy to his life - and Junito Almestica; brothers-in-law, Gary Boyd and wife, Deb and family, John Boyd and wife, Chen and family; sister-in-law, Jeannette Boyd and family; Monica Chirot and family; Shirley Rowe, Carol Sue Pier; Larry Hinson and wife, Marianne and their families who represent many friends that meant so much to Robert but too numerous to list here. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at St. Lukes on the Lake, 3600 Ranch Road 620 North, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's name to the charity of your choice or the St. Luke's Memorial Fund. Arrangements by: Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home 6300 W. First let me say my thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of loss of a loved one.

Robert's (better known to me as Bobby)and my paths have not crossed in 50 plus years. We walked the same paths from about the 5th grade until graduation from high school. Bobby was my neighbor on Cardinal Dr. in Dallas.

He was my school friend in elementary, junior high and high school. We attended the same church. The last vivid memory I have of him was when we attended a banquet at church with friends and then later went bowling.

I can see from his obituary that he had a life of success, happiness and most of all love. I thank God for being so good to him and I thank his family for including his obituary in the Dallas News so an old friend could pause a moment and remember a friend of days gone by.

May God be with you all.
