Rudolph Weinrich Obituary

WEINRICH, Rudolph "Rudi" F. Mr. Rudolph F. Weinrich was born on May 24, 1918 to Rudolph August Weinrich and Frieda Marie Glasser Weinrich in Glen Rock, N.J. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the age of 98 years old. He graduated Hawthorne High School in 1936 and went on to attend Cooper Union College in New York City studying electronics and radio building. He also attended courses at the New York Planetarium and signed up for the first passenger flight to the moon! Rudolph (Rudi) was part of an Astronomy Club and built his own telescopes by hand, from scratch. He worked for the Research Division of Cities Services Oil, Inc. in his earlier years and went on to build electronics equipment used on many US WWII submarines including the USS Pampanito in California. He manufactured the silver coating for mirrors with his brother Arthur Weinrich and retired from the glass business in his later years. He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Ann Rawlings of Rockwall, TX and Dana Lynn Farmer of Carrollton, TX and his stepson Joseph DiGangi of Ellicott City, MD, as well as his sisters, Elsie Dursema, Alice Siletti, and Pauline Bailey all of New Jersey. He was predeceased by six brothers: Herbert, Arthur, Victor, Karl, Louis, and Edmund, and a sister, Frieda. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lisa, Steven and Karen DiGangi, Joshua, Jonathan and Bradley Delgado, and David and Ashley Farmer as well as his great grandchildren Alaniz and Alessandra Delgado, Jackson, Colton and Landry Delgado and Holly Lemond. He lived in Dallas, TX and was married to Betty Jean Weinrich (nee Toler) for 47 years, until her passing in 2006. He was an amazing man with a love for his family and friends. He played the accordion in his early years and enjoyed listening to his record collection ranging from Polka to Bobby Goldsboro. His joy will be our celebration and remembrance of the amazing 98 years that he had to be with, and provide for, his family. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:00AM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
