Edwin Arvesen Obituary

Arvesen Jr., Edwin Arnold A loving son, husband, father and grandfather, Ed went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 12, 2012. Part of the "Greatest Generation" valiantly defending our country in WWII, Ed served the Army Air Corp in the Philippines and Borneo as a B-25 tail gunner. Born December 5, 1925 in Hins-dale, Ill. to Sophia and Edwin A. Arvesen, Sr., he graduated from Calumet High School, attended Univ. of Illinois, and married Dolores Chilton in 1951. Living in Elmhurst, Ill. until 1974 and then Richardson, TX, Ed was Chief Appraiser for Fannie Mae and in 1982 founded his own appraisal firm. A lifetime Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and Dallas chapter president, Ed also served on the Collin Co. Appraisal Board. His steadfast Christian faith, daily Bible study, and handsome Norwegian blue eyes distinguished him as did service on the board of Interfaith Housing Coalition. Ed is survived by sons David (wife Malinda) of Dallas, Jon Arvesen of Elmhurst, Illinois, Paul and Thomas Arvesen of Dallas as well as his precious grandchildren David, John, and Katherine Arvesen. Brother Don Arvesen of Woodland Hills, California, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. His parents, wife, and two sisters, Dorothy (Melvin Larsen) and Helen (Jim Stevenson), preceded Ed in death. A private family service will be held at DFW National Ceme-tery. Memorials may be made to Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church or Interfaith Housing Coalition. Galatians 6:14

I appreciated the times (memories) with Uncle Ed. His strong testimony and walk with the Lord are the lasting thoughts that I will take from his life. Knowing he is "present with the Lord" is a truly comforting. God bless.

My wonderful, handsome, & faithful Uncle. I so remember his joy and laughter. He faithfully proclaimed the gospel where ever he went. I remember as a young girl listening to his stories about WW2. He loved telling about his bible studies and we enjoyed sharing our mutual walk of faith. When he and Uncle Don came into Chicago to see my aging Mother (his older sister), it was a heartfelt reunion for the three of them. I loved him and know his family will miss him. Surely, we have a wonderful heritage. Cheryl Stevenson Dobbertin
