I was thinking of Dr. Bob Johnson recently and did a google search, only to find this obituary - which saddens much greatly. I left active duty service with the US Navy in 1999 and was hired by Raytheon, being assigned under Dr. Johnson who served as a Chief Scientist. I served as a Senior Engineer and Analyst under Dr. Johnson for 2 years, working on DoD proposals and high technology research efforts - which took me to various DoD facilities and Raytheon facilities around the US, including several trips to Fort Bragg, NC. We enjoyed a close collegial relationship, and I learned so much from him. I can still remember his voice, mannerisms, good nature, and his brilliance. I grew much in my career and knowledge working with and for Dr. Johnson; he made a significant positive impact on my life. He was respected by all.

I do remember he had serious heart issues. I don't know if this was a factor in his death at too young an age. I offer sincere condolences and prayers to the family on his passing. God Bless.

Dearest Shirley and Sam, I am so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I was thinking of him just two weeks ago and wondering what was happening in his life. I was remembering a science class when he seemed especially quiet during your time in the POW camp. He served our country well as your entire family has done. My condolences to his entire family. Especially his wife.
