Jane GARDNER Obituary

GARDNER, Jane Hardwick GARDNER, Jane Hardwick, of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on October 16, 2016 after a struggle with liver cancer. Jane was born August 10, 1928 in Boston, Mass into a creative, artistic family. She grew up in New England and was educated in Connecticut. She moved with her parents and sisters to Dallas when her father was transferred with an aeronautic company. She did fashion modeling and buying until meeting her husband, Jim. From Dallas they moved to Santa Fe where she discovered many artistic avenues for studies, as well as the birth of their first son. Eventually moving back to Dallas, Jane obtained her interior design degree and worked for an architectural firm for many years. In the early 80's, Jane and Jim opened one of the first furniture design shops in Dallas until finally retiring in 2009. She loved to travel, cook, spend time in her garden and was an active member of ASID and Brookhaven Garden Club. She was a talented artist and her family will cherish all the paintings she created for each of them. Jane will be sadly missed by her husband of 66 years, Jim Gardner, two sons, Wayde (Linda) Gardner, Jay (Sandy), Gardner; daughter Jana (John) Koch; two sisters Nancy Jones and Janice Olson. She loved and cherished her 6 grandchildren Kevin, Emma, Kaitlin, Miranda, Audra and Barrett. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Hardwick, and her oldest son Wynn Gardner. Her friends and family knew her as an elegant lady with talent, heart and grace. An open house memorial will be announced to friends and family privately.
