Ray Wood Obituary

Wood, Ray Clifton Ray Wood, age 89, of McKinney, Texas, passed away August 23, 2009, in McKinney. Ray was born March 9, 1920, in Murphy, Texas, to Hosea Reason and Maggie (Starnes) Wood. He married Frances Leach on September 11, 1943 in San Diego, California. Ray grew up in the Murphy community and graduated from Plano High School. He worked for the McKinney Production Credit Association for thirty five years. Ray was an ambassador for the McKinney Chamber of Commerce as well as a member of the McKinney Lions Club for twenty five years. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney where he was an elder and served as church treasurer for twenty five years. Ray proudly served in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife, Frances Wood of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Becky Foster and her husband, Jim of Allen, Texas; sons, Philip Wood and his wife, Peggy of Southlake, Texas and Scott Wood of McKinney; grandchildren, Brian Foster of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jennifer Smith of Austin, Texas, Brent Wood of Grapevine, Texas, Meredith Lockridge of Chicago, Illinois, and Stephen Wood of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Madison Wood and Ryker Smith; brother, Glen Wood of Winnsboro, Texas; and sister, Janet Stephenson of Garland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, and two sisters. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A. M., Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M., Monday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
