Benjamin Ablon Obituary

Published by Dallas Morning News on Sep. 16, 2014.
ABLON, Benjamin M. Benjamin (Ben) M. Ablon passed away peacefully on September 13, 2014. He was born on February 12, 1929 at St. Paul's Hospital, Dallas, Texas. Pursuing a career in taxation and accounting, his education included a BBA from Southern Methodist University, an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management, and an LLB law degree from Harvard University. Ben considered being born on Lincoln's birthday conferred special responsibilities on him; and goodness, kindness, and service to others were very important to his moral sense of values. He had been described as "ubiquitous", one who is ever present. His life was dedicated to his work and he WAS ever present and available to his clients. Ben's passion outside of work was his interest in his family's heritage, which included paternal parents Joseph and Anna who migrated in the eighteen eighties to America from Krasnopol, Poland under the name of Jablonovsky. He and his wife Susan traveled to see the town in 2006 and he took great pleasure in being able to return to his family's ancestral birthplace. Ben was preceded in death by his parents Esir Ablon and Hazel Dreben Ablon and his brother Arnold Ablon. Ben is survived by his wife Susan Bowman, son Edward, step-daughter Kim (Vadim) Krasovitsky, step-son Adam (Eileen) Bowman and his beloved grandchildren, Sydney and Spencer Bowman and Nathaniel, Gabriella, Nikolas, and Samantha Krasovitsky. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Carol Ablon and her children Jan, Elizabeth, William and Robert, his favorite cousin Sam (Betty Ann) Ablon and numerous other nieces and cousins. The family extends its warmest gratitude to his caregivers Walteretta Jiles, Ericka Jiles and Subrinka Jones. A private interment was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers included: Sam Ablon, Craig Anderson, Adam Bowman, Vadim Krasovitsky, Alan Lewis, Mike Magers, Roger Tenney and Raymond Termini. Honorary Pallbearers were Michael Fleischer, Robert Kellen, Herb Kesner and Mike Lewis. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 12PM in the Olan Sanctuary of Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, TX 75225. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Ben's friends make a donation to a charity of your choice or Temple Emanu-El, Jewish Family Services, or North Texas Food Bank.

My friend and associate for 36 years, even today I found myself about to get up, walk down the hall, and discuss with Ben. We will miss Ben greatly, he was a gentleman of class, had a heart of gold.
