Dear Read Family,
Only minutes ago did I discover that my dear friend, Louis has passed. Please accept my belated sympathies. I am very proud to have known Louis and to have called him a friend. We had re-established contact via email, then lost contact again a few years ago. Wish we could ...oh well, God bless you all.

To the Read Family -
I offer my sincerest sympathies upon hearing of Louis' passing. He was extremely helpful to me during the course of my research on my book, "Escape From Davao" and I greatly enjoyed our e-mail correspondence. May he rest in peace.

Hazel and family...Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Louis was an example of strength, a sincere and cheerful spirit for all people. In life he was an example to never give up. Knowing the words of our Lord that all things are possible if we believe. His life as a civilian, family and military man proved that to us.
His Birthday 90th was great and so much fun but the one coming up will be an outstanding celebration in Heaven.

Dear Phyllis:
Please accept our family's deepest sympathies on the passing of Mr. Read. Nancy and I were so saddened to read about his passing as we had such respect and admiration for him. He was a loving and devoted grandfather and a wonderful example and representative of "Greatest Generation." I know he will be greatly missed by all who had the honor and pleasure of knowing him.
When you and Mr. Read shared with me, his account of his service in the army and POW ordeals, I was so moved and gained additional appreciation and respect for all that he perservered through and overcame. He was just one of the most amazing people I ever met and despite all that he had experienced, it was clear that he was still a very loving and giving person.
It is remarkable how fast time passes but I hope you know we think of y'all often and hope all of you are doing well. Please know that you and your family have been in our thoughts and prayers and we will miss reading about Mr. Read and hearing him on television as we have from time to time in the last few years.
Sincerely,
Joe Foran
