Stanley Shulkin Obituary

Shulkin, Stanley Born August 20, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa passed away peacefully on March 30th, 2012 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Harriet Shulkin, in 2003. Stanley served his country as a flight instructor in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge he married Harriet Mendel and they moved to Amarillo, Texas where Stanley began his career in the retail industry. He served as a retail store manager for several years each in Amarillo, Pampa, and Borger. In 1971 he moved to Dallas where he later retired from the western wear business. After retirement, he became actively involved in the Jewish War Veterans serving in various positions, including Post Commander. He is survived by his three loving sons, Allan N. Shulkin, M.D. and his wife Fredell Topek Shulkin (Dallas, TX) , Barry L. Shulkin, M.D. and his wife Tresha Mandel (Memphis, TN), Craig S. Shulkin and his wife Lee Shulkin (North-ridge, California). Grandchildren are Zev A. Shulkin M.D, Sarah Shulkin-Pailet, Frankie M. Shulkin of Dallas, Zachary D. and Jeffrey D. Shulkin of Memphis, Shambri Shulkin-Rooke and Schyler W. Shulkin of Los Angeles, California. Great grandchildren include CJ, Cayde and Kai of Los Angeles, California. He is also survived by his brother, Erwin Shulkin of Denver, Colorado. Graveside services were held April 1, 2012 at Sparkman Hillcrest. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Jewish War Veterans or the charity of your choice.
