A profound scholar. An always gracious presence. I will miss him as a colleague.

Fr David taught the freshman class in Logic in 1961. He was the most thorough (and rigorous) professor during my U.D. experience. His class was excellent preparation for the rest of my classes at U.D. and, to this day, I actually use the concepts he taught us.

I remember Fr. David when he came to the
U. of Dallas in 1959.Although I did not have him as an instructor, he was one of the many wonderful Cistercian priests that built the core of the University.
May God Bless him and all the other Cistercians that have gone before him!

Fr. David was both a teacher and mentor to me while I was at the University of Dallas as both an undergraduate and graduate student. He gave me a deep love for patristic theology and a theological foundation that served me well in seminary and in my vocation as a priest in the Episcopal Church. And now he sits in the company of Irenaeus and the the Cappadocians discussing theology.

I am so grateful to Fr. David for all the ways he influenced me and other sisters of my generation through both his spiritual influence and his academic influence. I received my BA and MA at UD and did my thesis on Irenaeus under his direction. All of this happened in the 60's! May the Lord give him the reward of his labors as he now experiences first hand the Lord he so loved!

A wonderful teacher & scholar. He is now enjoying a cup of tea with his beloved Irenaeus.

I am so thankful that when I was a graduate student in Theology at UD, and a non-Christian, Fr. David told me that a hundred questions don't make a doubt. Under his influence, and that of Fr. Roch, I became convinced of the Catholic faith within just a few semesters. I was so honored to be baptized by Fr. David and Fr. Doug Deshotel (now aux. Bishop) and so brought into the Catholic Church. Thank you, Jesus, for Fr. David.
