Schaffner, Thomas Bert Thomas "Tom" Bert Schaffner died a peaceful death Monday, March 31, 2014 in Richardson, Texas with his wife and all his children near him, surrounding him with love and prayer. He was born July 22, 1944 in Monahans, Texas to Red and June Carter Schaffner. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Red and June Schaffner; and his brother, Harry Schaffner. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Georgia Schaffner; three sons, Tim Schaffner and his wife, Holly, Joe Schaffner and his wife, Jackie and Josh Schaffner and his wife, Katie; daughter, Amy Garrison and her husband, Cory; eight grandchildren, Tommie Schaffner, Thomas Schaffner, Natalie Garrison, Charlie Garrison, Brady Schaffner, John Schaffner, Molly Schaffner, and Noah Schaffner; sister, Syble Marraro; sister in-law, Sammie Schaffner; and many nieces and nephews. ROSARY will be held at 7:30 P.M., Thursday, April 3, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. SERVICE will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 4, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 S. Jupiter Road, Richardson, Texas 750821. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

I recall this cute couple: the big football player and this dainty petite side kick Georgia. Tom was a very nice teenager, polite and well mannered. They were a perfect match. Georgia was equally well mannered and very pretty. Both had lots of friends. Our high school football team was made up of strong, athletic guys. Tom was a leader and he set good examples of work ethic and politeness when appropriate.
