Knew Bob for many years from UD football and then Dayton Dragons. Bob was a good and decent man and true patriot.

I was sorry to see the news about Bob's passing. A Dayton native and Cincinnati Reds fan, I visited Mr. Borkowski at his home in 2010 to get his autograph on a Reds book and have my picture taken with him. He was a very nice man who was a fixture in Old North Dayton and I'm glad I got to meet him. It was interesting to hear some of his stories and also of the 3S Bar he and his brother ran in Old North Dayton where some of the Reds players of the 1950s would come up for a cold one on an off day. He left his mark on baseball and was in the Major Leagues longer than just "up for a cup of coffee." The Reds traded him to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1955 for pitcher Joe Black, and thanks to that trade, "Bush" played on a World Champion. My sympathy and condolences go to the Borkowski family.

So sorry to hear of your dad passing. He lived a long life but it is always hard to say good-by. We always enjoyed his company whenever he visited Roberta and Scott in Louisville. Our sympathy to the whole family.
