MCELLIGOTT, Charles Michael "Cutter" Age 77 of Oakwood, Ohio, died on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 4:02pm at Kettering Medical Center. Chuck was born December 11, 1940 in Chicago to Mary Young and Charles Joseph McElligott. He was the oldest of seven children, raised in Cleveland, Ohio, where at Cleveland Heights High School he became a football star and was named to the Cleveland Plain Dealers "Dream Team." Chuck moved on to the University of Dayton where he pursued his love of art with classes at the Dayton Art Institute, while continuing to excel on the football field for The Flyers. It was also at UD that he met the love of his life and future wife, Armonde Correll. He had a long and successful career as an art director in the graphic design industry, while further pursuing his passion for football. Around short stints/tryouts with the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills, Chuck flourished playing semi-pro football for more than a decade and competitive touch football until the age of 50. In 1982, Chuck was inducted into the USFTL Football Hall of Fame. Later, in 1999, he was also inducted into the American Football Association's Semi-Pro Football Hall of Fame. Chuck's greatest joy in life, however, was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Armonde; his daughter Elizabeth (Jason) Moore of Columbus, OH; his daughter Mary Crowe of Dayton, OH; and son Charles (Casey) McElligott of Chatham, NJ. Also, his brother Dennis McElligott of Cleveland, OH; sister Anne Zehr of Buffalo, NY; sister Elizabeth Forrest of Fort Myers, Florida; and 10 grandchildren: Armonde, Hall, Rawlins and Mac Moore; Thad, Jaeden, and Solomon Crowe; and Hawk, Tillman and Silver McElligott. Charles was preceded in death by parents Charles and Mary, brothers Johnny and Terry, and sister Susie Franklin. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.
