Leo Fitzharris Obituary

News Death Notice

FITZHARRIS, Leo James 92, passed away on October 27, 2011 at Saint Leonard Health Care Center in Centerville, Ohio, after a long illness. Born and raised in New York, he graduated from Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY in 1936, and the University of Dayton in 1940, with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Married over sixty years to his loving wife Mary, who predeceased him, they had eight children. He worked hard to provide for their large family, and in his spare time enjoyed raising canaries, oil painting, metal and woodworking. He liked to sing, loved the ocean, swimming and fishing, and was a devoted Yankee baseball fan throughout his life. In his later years, he often reminisced about his service in the South Pacific during WWII. He is survived by two daughters and five sons; his youngest daughter predeceased him. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and a large extended family. A memorial service and interment of his ashes at Calvary Cemetery will take place at a later date.

Bobbye Borchers Flecker

November 16, 2011

To all the Fitzharris Family,

Your Dad was always friendly towards me, he was a real character!! It was fun for my Dad, Bob Borchers, to have his brother-in-law across the street at St. Leonards. Mary and Patty must be so happy to be reunited with Leo once again.

And all those Borchers siblings and their spouses are right now dealing Leo into whatever game of cards they're playing!!!!

May Leo rest in peace with Our Lord for all eternity.
