News Death Notice

COPELAND, Martha Ann (Freeman) 82, of Yellow Springs, passed away on December 23, 2010 following a brief illness. A native of Rome, Georgia, Martha was a longtime resident of Dayton and retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. A faithful member of Unity Chapter 95 of the Order of the Eastern Star, she served as Worthy Matron in 1973. Martha was married to the late Reverend Clarence Copeland, Sr. She is survived by one daughter, Marcia (Larry) Hudson and four sons: Daryl, Clarence Jr., Alan (Aubrey) and Robert; one sister, Ann Freeman; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, James and Pearl (Terrell) Freeman; six sisters and one brother: Rosa Lee Hill, Lillie Mae Hill, Susie (Doyle) Allen, Helen (Otis) Hinesman, Mildred (Emzy) Barker, and Nelson (Geneva) Freeman. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 600 Dayton St., Yellow Springs, OH 45387. Interment Greencastle Cemetery, Dayton. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Family will receive friends at 9:30 until time of service. The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Smith-Rose Funeral Home in association with Johnson Brown.
