Jon AGNE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 28, 2017.
AGNE, Jon Robert 1959 - 2017 Brunswick, It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jon Robert Agne, 58, after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer on Sunday May 21, 2017. He was born at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX on May 14, 1959 to Robert and Rita (Thompson) Agne. He was a graduate of the Culver Military Academy in Culvert, IN and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Jon was a professional airline pilot. He joined the United States Navy in 1982 and was designated a Naval Aviator in 1984. He went on to fly for Delta Airlines and was based in New York City. A long time sailor he could be found in the summer sailing his beloved catboat "SURPRISE" out of Paul's Marina in Middle Bay. Much to the delight of family and friends he was an accomplished cook who loved to entertain. Both Jon and wife Megan have been strong advocates for animal rescue and have quite a menagerie to prove it. Jon is survived by his beloved wife Megan Northam of Brunswick, two grown children, Jonathan of Brunswick and Lauren of Alanta, GA, his father Robert of Dayton, OH, his siblings brother, Joel and sister, Julia, his uncle Ted Agne of Marblehead, MA; uncle Tom Agne of Delaware, OH; aunt Cinda Bush of Centerville, OH and aunt Cris Kidwell of Xenia, OH; beloved cousins and dear friends. Memorial visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm Saturday July 8, 2017 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick, a memorial service will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home. My condolences to Jon's wife, family and loved ones. Jon and I were new hire classmates at Delta Airlines. We started as Boeing 727 flight engineers and worked our way to flying as Captains on the Boeing 737. I can't remember a single time that we did not share a laugh when our paths crossed. Jon would always share pilot information with me. I was always amazed with his grasp of the information and level of details. He was the first guy to finish a test back in ground school as new hires.
Jon and I attended an ALPA Legislative Summit in 2015. Here is a picture visiting Senator Collins. Godspeed Jon...

Jon and I were roommates senior year at Culver. He was a great guy - calm, earnest, fun, kind, funny, so innocent... I remember driving with his dad through Ohio (what's round on the ends and high in the middle -- O-HI-O). First time I saw a CB radio in operation. 10-4 good buddy. You will be missed.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you during this difficult time. I hope that the promise at 1 Thessalonians 4:14 will bring you comfort. Knowing that there is a future for the ones we have lost in death can be reassuring.

Jon was instantly a friend when we met as mutual members of the Catboat Association. His wonderful, friendly and positive demeanor was loved and appreciated by all of us. I'm sure he will be keeping a watchful eye on his boating (and flying!) friends from his heavenly perch. Fair winds Jon!

On behalf of the 69th Infantry Next Generation group, we offer our condolences to Jon's wife and family.
It was an honor and pleasure to travel across Europe with Jon, his father Bob and Uncle Ted in remembrance of his grandfather.
We also had the pleasure of his company in Washington D.C. at an annual reunion, it is not often someone you have known for a short period can have such a profound effect.
We are saddened by the loss, yet grateful we knew him.
