News Death Notice

HALDER, Paul R. "Rusty" Age 78 of Xenia Ohio went on to be with the Lord on Saturday October 15, 2011. Born on October 13, 1933 in Xenia Ohio, he was pre-ceded in death by his parents Paul "Dutch" and Lois (Snodgrass) Halder, and his sister Omilo Halder Jensen. He is survived by the love of his life & wife of 52 years, Ann, and his children Danial (Theresa) Halder, Lisa (Larry) Gates, Heidi (Tim) Menke, and Eric "Dutch"(Kim) Halder, and grandchildren Joshua (Angela) Halder, Derek Halder, Trey Halder, Zachary Halder, Michael Madison, Brooklyn Halder, Jack Menke, & Thomas Menke, his sister Martha Halder Klover, nephews Dirk Klover, Mark Klover, John Klover, Peter Klover, Kevin Jensen, Michael Maier, nieces Pricilla Likos , Annette Klover, Kathy Cramer, Karen Neal, Julie Makarov, Melinda D'Angelo and many great nieces and nephews. Rusty graduated from Xenia High School in 1952 and went on to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes as one of the hand-picked recruits of Woody Hayes in Woody's first year as head coach for Ohio State. Rusty met Ann at Ohio State, and later brought her back to Xenia to raise their family. He was an avid outdoorsman & sportsman, loved to go bird hunting, training bird dogs, mushroom hunting & camping in Michigan. Around the early 70's he purchased a family retreat close to Xenia along the Little Miami River where the whole family spent many many wonderful times enjoying the outdoors, raising dogs, riding horses, fishing, swimming, canoeing & more and where a family cabin was built, and named the grounds "The 'Ol Lazy H". Rusty was prominently known in the Xenia area through-out his life, not to mention in Dayton from his career, college friends from Ohio State, the brothers of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and all fellow golfers at Walnut Grove Country Club. He was a natural for sales, and was a manufacturers & commercial construction sales rep for most of his career. Rusty was a long standing faithful member of St. Brigid Catholic Church, Xenia. Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family. A memorial mass will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church on Friday, October 28th, 2011, at 11:00 AM, 312 Fairground Road, Xenia, with The Reverend John Krumm officiating.
