News Death Notice

RUDOLPH, George Joseph 79, of Kettering. A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, he passed away peacefully on February 14, 2012. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann (nee Beveridge and mother of George Beveridge and Sherrin Ann) in 1973, and by his parents, George Haynes and Katherine Day Rudolph. He is survived by the love of his life, Carol Ann, his wife of 36 wonderful years, as well as his brother, Luther "Lu" Day (Nancy) Rudolph of Tuscon, AZ. Also surviving George are his four wonderful children, George Beveridge (Michelle) Rudolph of Grand Rapids, MI; Sherrin Rudolph (Bryce) Kristo of Palatine, IL; Dr. Jason Herrrin (Lisa) Jones of Spokane, WA; and Anne-Marie (Grady) Boles of Boulder, CO. He was also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, G. Austin, Kennedy, and Quentin Rudolph; Trevor, Ryan, and William Kristo, Harrison and Susan Jones, and Camden Boles. George was born in 1932 in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He was a graduate of University School in Hunting Valley, OH, Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH, where is was co-captain of the swimming team and a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He received his MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. George was a well-respected and consummate businessman. He was employed originally by Sherwin Williams, and later General Electric, where he was a manger of distribution throughout the Midwest. He later moved to Kettering when he joined Continental Consultants Incorporated as Vice President & General Manager. His career continued in a similar role with Jamestown Industries/ Jamestown Plastic Molders until he founded his own company, Wright Source Incorporated, which is still operating today. George was a true family man who relished in the activities and successes of his children and later, grandchildren. He spent many of his "retirement" years traveling with Carol to visit his children and grandchildren. He had a gift of remarkable intelligence and was a prolific reader. He possessed a great sense of humor and will always be remembered for his trademark smile. He was an avid golfer and tennis player well into his 70's until his health limited him to do so. He resided in Kettering for 45 years and had many friends, especially his dear friends Al Burshtan, with whom, along with Al's wife Ann, George and Carol vacationed together in Hawaii many times, and Fred and Eva Izenson, his neighbors and friends to the family for nearly 20 years. In addition, he had many close friends from his tennis group. George will be missed by all those whose lives he touched and will be remembered for the honest and sincerely loving man he was. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd. Friday, February 24, 2012 from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral service 10 am Saturday at David's Cemetery Community Chapel, 4600 Mad River Rd. Chaplin Kevin Wardlaw officiating.
