News Death Notice

DRAYER, Sr. James Charles age 86 of Farmersville and formerly of Miamisburg, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Sterling House of Washington Township under the care of Hospice of Dayton. Jim was born in Dayton, Ohio March 19, 1927 to the late William B. and Lydia Kathryn (McGee) Drayer. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William Drayer Jr. and granddaughter, Molly Carraher. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Hendricks) Drayer; children, Kathleen "Kathy" (Frank "Skip") Carraher of Centerville and James (Pamela) Drayer Jr. of West Carrollton; grandchildren, Andrew (Kelly) Carraher, Amy Bermick and Joseph (Jill) Carraher; 12 great grandchildren; his brother, John (Ann) Drayer and sister, Pat (Ken) Bornhorst. Jim was a 1945 graduate of Chaminade High School and served in the US Army during WWII. He went on to become part owner of Drayer Motor Sales which later merged into Denison Oldsmobile of Centerville. Jim served his community as a member of the Lyons Club, a Director of First National Bank-Miamisburg, on the Board of Directors for Sinclair Community College and as Treasurer for the Bear Lake Outing Club. He was also a member of Church of the Visitation, Eaton and enjoyed creating memories with his family. Special thanks to the staff of Sterling House and Hospice of Dayton for the extraordinary care and support they offered the Drayer family. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 AM Friday, July 5, 2013 at Church of the Incarnation, Centerville celebrated by Father Scott Wright. Burial will follow at Hillgrove Cemetery, Miamisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society at 2808 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45206 or Hospice of Dayton at 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
