Gerald Reau Obituary

Gerald T. Reau, 79, Lima, Ohio, passed away Oct. 20, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, March 27, 1936, to the late Donald J. and the late Laura (Sager) Reau. He married Nancy S. Rice on Aug. 19, 1967, at the Rice family farm; she survives.
Gerald served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Lima. He was an Ohio State Highway Patrolman for 32 years and worked as a security guard at Ford in Lima for 22 years.
Among survivors are a daughter, Nancy (Rajeev Puri) Reau of Frankfort, Ill.; a brother, Michael (Brenda) Reau of Toledo, Ohio; a sister, Patricia Reau of Toledo; mother-in-law, Estella Rice of Decatur; brothers-in-law, David (Suzy) Rice of Decatur and Ron Highland of New Haven; a sister-in-law, Becky (Bud) Kemp of Decatur; and grandchildren, Aria Noelle Krishan Thomas and Alina Nicole Puri.
Preceding Gerald in death were two brothers, Donald Reau II and Edward Reau; his father-in-law, Robert J. Rice; and a sister-in-law, Harriet Highland.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, with Fr. Laurdino Fernandes officiating. Interment will follow in the Rice Cemetery in Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to Heifer International.
