Daniel Stahly

1938 - 2017

Daniel Stahly, 78, Geneva, passed away at 2:58 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 09, 2017, at Adams  Memorial Hospital. He was born in New Knoxville, Ohio, Saturday, June 11, 1938, to Wilbert and Irene (Striker) Stahly. He married Jan Oleson Saturday, Aug. 6, 1966, in Fort Wayne. Together the two have celebrated almost 51 years of marriage.
Dan was a 1956 graduate of Geneva High School. He worked several years until retiring from Don Myers Plumbing and Heating in Berne. Dan enjoyed riding his bike in the summer months around the Geneva area, mowing his lawn and watching IU basketball. He especially enjoyed saving money and was very good at organizing and achieving his financial goals. Dan attended the High Street Methodist Church in Geneva. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Among survivors are his wife, Jan Stahly of Geneva; daughter, Renee (Tim) Jackson of Linn Grove; sons, Nathan (Stacy) Rettig of Westminster, Md., Noel (Jennifer) Rettig of Sarasota, Fla., and Jay Stahly of Markle; sister, Sharon (Bob) Schisler of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Stahly; mother, Irene (Striker) Stahly; and two grandsons.
A service to celebrate Daniel's life will be at High Street United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with viewing being held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Michele Isch will officiate and burial will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.
