Ian Morrison Obituary

Captain Ian Samuel Morrison, USA

Of Copperas Cove, TX, formerly of Hockessin, DE, died and went to be with his Lord on March 21, 2012. He had recently returned from deployment to Iraq. He was the beloved husband of Rebecca, the son of Gregory and Kathleen Morrison, and son-in-law of Ross and Pam Harrison of Grand Prairie, TX.

Ian was born on October 25, 1985 at Camp LeJeune, NC. He graduated from McKean High School, where he was an honors student, involved in choral music, art, cross-country, and was co-captain of the swimming team. Graduating from West Point in 2007, he entered the Army's Aviation Branch, earned his pilot wings in 2009, and was assigned to the 229th Aviation Regiment at Fort Hood, TX.

He is survived by his wife, his parents, brother, Benjamin J., of Athens, GA, sister, Joanna C., grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. John Morrison of Boothwyn, PA, and Mrs. Trudy Marsh of Quarryville, PA, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Christian burial will take place in Texas. A service of remembrance will be held at Berea Presbyterian Church, Hockessin (across Rt. 41 from Sanford School) on Wednesday, April 4th, with family visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., and service at 7:00.

"They shall not grow old,

As we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them,

Nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun

And in the morning,

We will remember them."

As time goes by, the sharpness of pain eases, but never goes away completely. Ian was an awesome young man whose time with his loved ones on this Earth ended too soon. But, God always has a plan we will never understand and we don't have to. When we arrive where Ian is now, we won't ask and it won't matter any longer.
