Henry Carinci Obituary

Henry J. Carinci, Jr.

AGE: 64 • Wilmington, DE

Henry J. Carinci, Jr., age 64 of Wilmington, DE, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 26, 2017.

Henry was born December 9, 1952 the son of the late Henry J., Sr. and Anne P. Carinci. He was a devoted family man and a longtime volunteer for youth sports and activities. He graduated from Manhattan College with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and from Canisius College with a Master of Business Administration. He worked in the chemical industry for over thirty years specializing in market research and business intelligence. Henry worked for DuPont for almost 20 years. He also worked for the Catalyst Group, Arco Chemical Company (Lyondell Chemical), Penn Specialty Chemicals, Inc., and as an independent consultant.

Henry was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. There he spent many years doing what he enjoyed most - coaching soccer, girls' basketball, and softball. Always enthusiastic to volunteer his expertise to improve youth opportunities and spend more time with his children, he was a member and chairman of the IHM Education Committee, Vice President of the IHM Athletic Association, and treasurer of the Crestview Recreation Association. He also coached soccer at the YMCA and coached the Ursuline Academy summer field hockey team.

He leaves behind his wonderful and devoted best friend of forty-eight years, Judith Elizabeth, and their two lovely daughters whose accomplishments made him proud - Jennifer Elizabeth (Glen Wilson) who shares his optimism and commitment and Jillian Elizabeth who shares his scientific curiosity and logical problem-solving talent. Additionally, two grandchildren, Juniper James and Sawyer Henry, lit up his life and carry on his bright spirit and good humor.

For those who wish, contributions can be sent to the IHM Athletic Association at 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803.

Service and burial will be private.

I believe many of us Regis HS classmates have only learned of Henry's passing recently. We all had wonderfully strong friendships formed in the years 1966-70 when we were still impressionable. Memories of our time together have flooded my mind all day. My condolences to Henry's family. I am sorry for your loss

I too was a high school classmate of Henry. Our class will be getting together on June 9th of this year and his passing will be noted, and our memories of him will be celebrated.

I just became aware of Henry's passing. I was a high school classmate of his and the attached photo is from our graduation yearbook of 1970. Henry and I were part of the Staten Island contingent attending Regis High School and we used to take the morning ferry to Manhattan to school. Henry was a good friend and was very helpful to me when I had questions about my chemistry homework. We also played many basketball and intramural football games together so his lifelong involvement in coaching comes as no surprise. I am so sorry for your family's loss.

So sorry to hear about my good friend, Henry! We worked together as an unbelievably successful tem at Grasseli (1977-1983). Henry was a great guy and I cant believe he is gone at such a young age. I will always remember our happy times together and the gettogethers that team has in Wilmington afterwards.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

Judy, my heart, prayers, and sympathy go out to you during this difficult time. Harry was a really nice guy, and you were fortunate to have him in your life all these years. He was a great father to Jennifer and Jillian - figuring out early the you and the girls were the most important part his life. May God grant Harry eternal rest.

Deepest sympathy to Judy, Jennifer and Jillian. I was a former DuPont coworker and remember the kindness, generosity and compassion showed by Henry. Can't forget his wonderful sense of humor and outlook on life. His family was his greatest asset and pride in life. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult loss.Deepest Sympathy and Love, Mary Ann Winkler Walton
