Beatrice A. O'Connell

Beatrice A. (nee Taylor) O'Connell Beatrice A. (nee Taylor) O'Connell passed away peacefully on July 6, 2013 at the age of 95. A long time resident of Media, she was the beloved wife of the late John D. O'Connell. They were married 52 years before his death in 1996. Bea was born in Maysville, West Virginia in 1917 (the youngest of 3 sisters). She was very proud of her life in the mountains of that state. She would often speak of her time on the farm and the adventures of her youth. She moved to Baltimore after high school to help with the war effort at Martin's Aircraft plant where she me John. After moving to PA, they settled down in Media after the war where she was a housewife known for her cooking, storytelling skills, and gift of gab. Bea was also a very avid gardener and planted a vegetable garden almost every year. She worked at Ben Franklin 5 & 10 and Manchester House in Media. Bea spent the last 9 years at Granite Run Estates outside of Media and enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and their families. She enjoyed reading and passed her love of books along to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors: Beatrice is survived by her two sons: David (Barbara) and John (Cheryl). She will be missed by her 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also she has over 50 nieces and nephews in West Virginia. Visitation & Mass: Relatives and friends may call from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday July 11, 2013 at the Hagan, Harting, and Rigby Funeral Home, 15 E. Fourth St, Media, PA 19063. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 12 at 10 am at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, Monroe and Gayley Streets, Media. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Samaritan Fund of Granite Farms, 1343 W. Baltimore Pike, Media, PA 19063
