Lynn Keyser Obituary

Lynn H. Keyser died on Saturday, December, 12, 2015 at her home in Ocean City, NJ after a protracted battle with cancer. She was 65. She leaves behind her husband, John Derrickson and their son, Scott Derrickson. Lynn was born in Chester, PA to father Donald Keyser of Glen Mills and mother Tosh Keyser, who predeceased her. She grew up in a loving family with sister Kim Keyser Pershouse of West Chester, PA and brother Craig Keyser of Avalon, NJ.
Following a successful career as newspaper reporter and editor for the Delaware County Times in suburban Philadelphia, Lynn earned a Master of Arts degree in writing from Rowan University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2006. She then taught communications at The Richard Stockton University of New Jersey in Pomona. She continued to write feature stories, often for golf and lifestyles magazines.
Lynn married John Derrickson in 1979. They lived in Swarthmore, PA where they raised their son, Scott. They moved to Ocean City, NJ in 2002.
Lynn was an avid golfer, playing many years on the women's team at Harbor Pines Golf Club. One of their trophies was named for her in 2014.
Lynn remained dedicated to her students at Stockton, continuing to teach while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She was a very strong-willed woman who left lasting impressions on many of her students.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 26 at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 30th and Bay Ave. in Ocean City, NJ. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a contribution be sent to the Lynn Keyser Memorial Fund, c/o the Development Office at Stockton University, 101 Vera King Farris Dr, Galloway, NJ 08205.
