Arthur A. Messick

WHALEYVILLE — Arthur Amos Messick, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at the home of his daughter in Whaleyville. Born in Salisbury, he was a son of the late John Messick Sr. and Ethel Nock Messick. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mary Tawes Messick, in February of this year.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Ann Jarvis and her husband, Glen, Christine Elaine Wells and Joanne Kathleen Brown; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister, Ethel Tawes and her husband, Freddy, of Salisbury.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Arthur Ray Messick and David Wayne Messick; daughter, Cynthia Estelle Messick; son-in-law, Dennis M. Wells Sr.; and brothers, John Messick Jr. and James Messick.

Mr. Messick had been a poultry grower and had been a feed truck driver for Perdue for many years.

Cremation followed his death. Inurnment will be private for the family at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802.

Arrangements are in the care of Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

I have fond memories of Uncle Arthur as a child when I used to stay weekends with Aunt Pat.He will be sadly missed and my heart goes out to the family members.
