Penfield: Marjorie Kramer Burch, age 84, passed away on April 26th.
The daughter of Mary and John Kramer, she grew up in Kenmore, New York. She always kept in touch with her childhood friends and regularly attended her high school reunions. She attended Cazenovia College, graduating in 1948. Marge was married to the late Leonard M. Burch, Jr. "Joe" with whom she shared 31 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed playing bridge, skiing, golf, sailing and spending time at their cottage in the Thousand Islands, Canada. With her husband, she was a founding member of the Penfield Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed their early years of marriage on Hilltop Drive in Penfield where they gained many lifelong friends. In 1970, they moved to Clifton Park, New York.
At the age of 50, Marge returned to college, earning her Associate's Degree in Dietetics from Maria College in Albany, New York. Marge and Joe always missed Rochester and returned to live in the area in 1980. She had a fulfilling career working as a dietitian for the Visiting Nurse Association of Rochester for 13 years.
She was most passionate about the game of bridge and played in several bridge clubs around Rochester. She loved to read and passed that love on to both of her daughters. She also enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, gardening and traveling. Marge is survived by her two daughters, Susan Pinto of Kinderhook, New York and Pamela Burch and her husband, David Ives of West Newbury, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Josie Pinto, Graham and Spencer Ives. She is also survived by two nieces, Laurel Topper and Christine Kramer and a nephew, Michael Farmer.
A celebration of Marge's life will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 2:00 pm at the Penfield Presbyterian Church, 1881 Jackson Road.
In lieu of flowers, please call a friend, help a neighbor, or do a good deed in the memory of Marge's caring spirit. The family would like to thank the VNS Hospice at St. Ann's for all of their efforts during her final months.
