I think of Carol often. We worked together for 11 years and she was a great inspiration to me. I keep going and tell myself all the time that this is how Carol stayed fit and in good spirits all her life after loosing her husband and mother. My thought go out to her children and grandchildren friends and co workers that will remember her smiling face for ever.

Please accept my most sincere sympathy on Carol's demise. I learned about it today. She and her husband, Tom, were my friends when we were undergraduates at the University of Rochester. carol and i were both in the class of 1966.

I guess the first time I became irreverent to Carol Moran was when she told our walking group she was going to complain about the state of the paint job on one of the houses in the neighborhood. I asked her if she was one of those neighbors who peeked behind the curtains to keep an eye on everyone. She burst out laughing with a bit of a cackle to it. At that point i mentioned she should be riding around the neighborhood, not on her bike, but on a broom - because of the laugh! More laughter from everyone.
The label stuck and Carol Moran became our local friendly witch, much to her amusement. She'd say she was going to see her grand-kids in Maryland, and I'd ask, "Are you flying down this time?" I looked at her whimsically and when the penny dropped, more hysterical laughter.
We walked with several other neighbors in Old Orchard most days, but on one occasion, another neighbor came out to chat holding his jet black cat. I asked him, "You found Carol's cat then? She was looking for him to ride on her broom!" The cat owner wasn't used to the banter and his astonished stiff face was a picture - until he got the joke!
The teasing went on almost every day. A couple of weeks ago, it was a very warm morning and Carol came out dressed in her summer 'shorts'. They were light cotton, billowy and covered in bright flowers. I shaded my eyes from the glare and said, "Good grief Carol, what have you got on? That material looks just the same as the curtains my mum made for her kitchen window!" More laughing!
Derogatory comments exchanged by both of us were a daily occurrence, and the other walkers thoroughly enjoyed our silliness. Carol's comment to my jibes was usually "Well, consider the source!" She called it "Our witty repartee!"
She'd often say, "I'm a dork!" Usually after she'd spotted a Cardinal bird and bleated, "Mr.Ceeee!" I'd respond with, "Yes, we know you are a dork! And you do know those birds are covered in ticks and fleas, don't you!" More chuckles.
We were reminded that someone (moi) had a couple of outdoors cats and something had killed - no murdered - a Cardinal on her deck! We were constantly reminded that cats should be kept indoors. She did it with the authority of a School Marm, and so we'd just keep quite or suffer the consequences! Cardinal murder was a serious offense.
I'm going to miss Carol. I'll think of her every day as I walk my dogs along The Oxbow Trail. She was a dear friend, and I think she liked me despite me being so rude to her at every chance I got. She even asked me to attend her church, but being a complete heathen I said, "If I went in there it would probably catch fire". More laughter from Carol.
I attended her funeral today, a touching ceremony, with so many folks talking of her laughing and joking, and thankfully the church didn't catch fire!
It was ironic that the two pieces of music chosen for the service were, 'On Eagles Wings' and 'When You Wish Upon A Star'. I'll bet Carol is chuckling at that!
On a serious note. Carol was as fit as a fiddle, hiking, walking, swimming, and had a very positive mental attitude, so I am still shocked by the suddenness of this tragedy.

The news of Carol's passing was incredibly shocking. As neighbors on the Crescent, we always looked forward to hearing Carol's trekking poles tapping rhythmically on the sidewalk every morning, even in the coldest, most inclement weather. And, we enjoyed crossing paths at the pool or on the cross-country trails. Carol's love for life and her ability to see the beauty in every moment can continue to be an inspiration to all. She will be deeply missed, but I have no doubt that she lived every single day to its fullest. Our deepest sympathies to her family and close friends.

When I was growing up, I always could count on Carol. She had so much love to give!!! When I moved back to Fairport, I was overjoyed that she would have dinner with me once a month just to catch up. When my mother was dying, she was an invaluable friend. I will miss going garage scaling with her!!! I know she loved her kids and grandkids so much and would brag on them always!!! She loved the wonderful trips she got to take with her sister. I know she would be so sad to know all the milestones in her family that she won't be there for!! Know that she was loved by many and will be missed by even more!! Thank you Carl for being a part of my family!!!! I will always love you!!!

Aunt Carol was always upbeat, always so active and she had such a zest for life. I will remember her honesty and her infectious laugh the most. And of course I will think of her whenever I see someone driving with a kayak on the roof... it seemed that she was never without a kayak in her van, so that she could just pull over and enjoy some time on the river whenever she felt like it. I will miss her a great deal.

Carol was a 1962 classmate of mine from Irondequoit HS.
We re-connected when celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2012. It was wonderful to see, during our many meetings of planning, that Carol still had her infectious smile and enthusiastic ways. I shall always remember her as an inspiration to live and enjoy every day.
My thoughts and prayers to her family

Carol shared her smile and positive attitude with so many people. She made this world a better place single handedly. We are blessed to have had Carol in our lives. She is a mentor for every woman: to be strong, intelligent, giving, caring, committed, persistent, dedicated, insightful, loving, active, faithful, cheerful, and empathetic. Carol, you will be missed.

I worked with Carol for 11 years and she was a great person. She was great with the kids and loved them all, I moved away from Rochester 6 years ago and she still would call me and see how I was doing sending pictures of her grandchildren, supporting me through my battle with Cancer. She will be missed dearly by many people. Rest In Peace Carol. Ann Nolan

Carol has been a constant in my life for over 25 years. I would run into her on the water, in the forest, on the trail, in the pool, and guaranteed at an orienteering meet. She would always grace me with her infectious laughter and enthusiasm. Her "joie de vivre" was an inspiration to all. What a remarkable person she was. I will dearly miss her. May she now be reunited with her beloved Tom and continue their adventures together.
